Who owns which applications?
The business question Who owns which applications? helps you to ensure that organizational responsibility is documented for all applications in the application portfolio. Understand which organizations are the business owners and IT owners of applications and which applications have no organizational ownership defined. Look for gaps in organizational responsibility to mitigate risk to your company's IT infrastructure.
Use the method that is most convenient for you:
- In the left navigation panel, enter Who owns which applications? in the Search Navigation field.
 - In the left navigation panel, click Home. In the content area, go to the Business Questions page and click the tile for Who owns which applications?
 - In the left navigation panel, expand the sections Business Questions and Governance and click Who owns which applications?
 
          
 
The doughnut charts shows the percentage of applications owned by organizations that have the roles Business Owner or IT Owner. The charts also indicate the percentage of the company's applications that have no organizational ownership defined. Ideally every application has at least one organization defined as a Business Owner and one organization defined as an IT Owner.
Point to a doughnut slice to display a tooltip with the number of applications owned by a specific organization. Double-click a doughnut slice to open a data workbench showing all applications owned by the organization. You can edit an application's Business Owner or IT Owner role directly in the data workbench.
The percentage is an aggregation of the applications of the organization and its subordinate organizations. Per default, organizations on the second level in the organization hierarchy are shown. Adjust the data by showing organizations on different levels of the organization hierarchy by clicking the 
 global filter button and setting the Organization Hierarchy Level field.
If you have the relevant access permissions, you can edit the applications in this business question.
- Go to the business question Who owns which applications?
 - In the Business Owner or IT Owner doughnut chart, double-click a doughnut slice to open the Applications data workbench. The data workbench displays all applications owned by the organization as a business owner or IT owner. Use the features of the data workbench to slice-and-dice your data to focus on data and do the analyses you are interested in.
 - Edit an application directly in the data workbench or select an application and click the 
 navigate button to open its content area. 
Applications and organizations must be in the repository. The following data should be captured for each application to have meaningful results for the business question Who owns which applications?
- Business Owner role: Specify which organization owns the application and is responsible for managing the functional requirements.
 - IT Owner role: Specify which organization owns the application and is responsible for technical and lifecycle decisions.
 
Go to the Data Quality page and resolve the issues to ensure that the data is complete.
Go to the Data Source page to review the applications and organizations that are used to answer the business question. The data source is a list report and cannot be edited.
