The business question What is our service landscape? helps you to understand the business services and support services in the service landscape based on a snapshot of the service groups in which they are categorized. Review the service catalog with an understanding to the IT assets that deliver the business services and support services.

This business questions helps to identify risks due to potential gaps in the service portfolio. Identify opportunities for rationalization activities in service-dense service groups.

The license package Enterprise Architecture Management is required to work with this business question. The use case Service Portfolio Management must be activated.

Use the method that is most convenient for you:

  • In the left navigation panel, enter What is our service landscape? in the Search Navigation field.
  • In the left navigation panel, click Home. In the content area, go to the Business Questions page and click the tile for What is our service landscape?
  • In the left navigation panel, expand the sections Business Questions and Roadmapping and click What is our service landscape?

A nested matrix shows the service groups and the business services and support services that they are assigned to. Click the GlobalFilter global filter button and specify the filter fields to show services based on the provider organization, consumer organization, supported business capability, a specific date, or a service group.

Here's how to interpret the information:

  • Each service group and subordinate service group is represented by a nested box in the matrix.
  • Business services and support services assigned to the level of the subordinate service groups are displayed.
  • Service items that deliver the business service or support service are displayed inside the nested box representing the service. To include the service items in the display, click the  Filter local filter button and switch on Show Service Items.
    • Business services are delivered by applications, deployments, and support services.
    • Support services are delivered by components, physical servers, and virtual servers.
  • Business services and support services may be colored based on the Color Rule filter. Click the  ThreeDots_Black 3-dots button > Show Legend to understand the color coding.
  • Indicators may be displayed on the services based on the Show Service KPI filter.

If you have the relevant access permissions, you can edit the business services and support services in this business question.

Business service data must be in the repository as well as support service data to have meaningful results for this business question. The following data is required for this business question:
