What is our target architecture?
The business question What is our target architecture? shows a high-level overview of the target state of the IT architecture.
The visualization is a business support map that depicts the business support , which is the relationship between the application that is used by an organization in order to provide a business capability. Granular planning of the business support supports application rollout plans across the organizations and business capabilities. This business question helps you to understand the dependencies between the organizations and business capabilities in your company and identify potential redundancies or gaps in business support.
Use the method that is most convenient for you:
- In the left navigation panel, enter What is our target architecture? in the Search Navigation field.
 - In the left navigation panel, click Home. In the content area, go to the Business Questions page and click the tile for What is our target architecture?
 - In the left navigation panel, expand the sections Business Questions and Roadmapping and click What is our target architecture?
 
A matrix shows the business support provided to the business capabilities and organizations. Here's how to interpret the information:
- Business capabilities are displayed on the X-axis
 - Organizations are displayed on the Y-axis
 - Business supports are displayed in the matrix cells. The business support expresses the relationship of an application used by an organization in order to accomplish a business capability.
 - Applications providing the business support can be shown in the matrix by switching on Aggregate to Application.
 - Applications may be colored based on the Color Rule filter. Click the  
 3-dots button > Show Legend to understand the color coding. 
- To edit a business support, select the business support in the matrix and click 
. Specify the attributes of the business support. - To edit multiple applications and business supports, click the caption What is our target architecture? to drill down to the business question. You can set filters to limit the number of applications and business supports that will be available for editing. 
- Click Edit > Edit Applications to open a data workbench to edit the applications. You can use all features of the data workbench to slice-and-dice your data to do the analyses you are interested in.
 - Click Edit > Edit Business Supports to open a data workbench to edit the applications.

Business capabilities, organizations, and applications must be in the repository. The business support provided by applications should be well documented in order to have meaningful results for the business question. For every application, the following should be defined:
- The business capabilities that the application supports
 - The organizations that use the application.
 
Go to the Data Quality page and resolve the issues to ensure that the data is complete.
Go to the Data Source page to review the applications, the business capabilities they provide, and the organizations that use them to answer the business question. The data source is a list report and cannot be edited.
