Enable data quality rules
A data quality rule checks whether a defined aspect of the data requirements for an object is fulfilled. If the requirements are not fulfilled, the user is notified about it when working in the user interface. Click to learn more about data quality rules.
Alfabet has a number of predefined data quality rules to ensure that all business questions and other analytical views are based on reliable data. The data quality rules are activated by default for the following business questions:
- Who owns which applications?
- What is our application portfolio?
- What should we be focusing on?
- What is our application landscape?
- What is our application roadmap?
You must explicitly activate all other predefined data quality rules that are relevant for your business context.
Predefined data quality rules cannot be altered or deleted. You can create new data quality rules to ensure data quality for aspects which are unique to your company's needs. For example, if you create a new visualization in a data workbench and add it to a content area, you can create a data quality rule that checks the data in the visualization.
Optionally you can configure that emails are sent when a data quality rule is violated. A user receives one email containing all data quality rule violations for the data quality rules for which notification emails are enabled.
In Alfabet, emails are sent out to users daily between midnight and 3 a.m. server time. You can change the schedule for sending emails via Administration > Job Schedule. You will find the job for scheduling emails for data quality rules in the table section ADIF Import Job Schedule > Data Quality Notification. Click to learn how to change the time schedule.
