Resource Manager

The Resource Manager user profile is a dedicated profile for users that are responsible for maintaining the data relevant for resource allocation and management. The resource manager can create a skills catalog that is the basis for specifying the skills organizations offer, and administer resources on an organizational level. With this user profile, the resources required for transformation projects can be managed in a timely and effective manner in communication with the responsible project manager and architect.

The user profile Resource Manager has Write permissions to many classes including Organization and Skill, but also to classes in the investment architecture such as Project, Program, Demand, Vision, Goal, Objective, and Strategic Theme .

A user with the Resource Manager user profile has the following permissions:

  • Permissions to create new organizations, skills, and projects in the context of resource planning. You can also create other reference data such as programs, project groups, demands, demand groups, visions, goals, objectives, and strategic themes.
  • Permissions to edit IT assets displayed in the context of resource planning. All IT assets such as projects, demands, goals, etc. that you are the authorized user of and all assets associated with an authorized user group that you are a member will be visible.

The Resource Manager user profile bundles the functionality you need as a business user to manage the skills and resources needed for projects. Click Home in the left navigation panel to see the Resource Management and Resource Analysis pages.

Resource Management page: It is mandatory that you select an organization in the Team field in the filter  GlobalFilter to see results in the page.

Resource Analysis page: Understand expected resource constraints at any point in time. Use the Expected Resource Constraints view to explore potential bottlenecks in resource planning by dynamically changing the axes and aggregating cell values for the specific dimensions. Change the filters to explore resource use and limitations for different dimensions such as organization, project, time, and resource requests. Rules can be set to highlight significant resource constraints so that action can be taken in a timely manner.

The left navigation panel displays the following:

  • Recent Assets: Access the data that you have most recently touched.
  • Workflows: Access workflow activities that you are responsible for.
  • Data Quality: Click to access My Data Quality Issues to understand the data quality issues for the assets that you have responsibility for. Click Data Collection Initiative to collect portfolio data.
  • Favorites: Save and access your bookmarked data.
  • Analysis Tools: Access ArchiMate diagrams, storyboards, and reports about your data.
  • Resources: Expand to specify the following:
    • Organizations: Create new organizations that will offer skills, or click the  Navigate navigate button to open the content area of an organization and go to the Resources page to specify skill offers for the organization. The skill offer includes the skill that is offered, the person who can provide the skill, and when the skill can be provided.
    • Resources: View an overview of the people providing skills and how much of their skill count has been requested, offered, and remains.
    • Skills: Create a catalog of skills that can be used to create skill offers that specific people will provide.
  • Investment Architecture: View and edit reference data for projects, programs, project groups, demands, demand groups and the strategy network which includes visions, goals, objectives, and strategic themes..
