Create and manage storyboards for your user community

Storyboard views are essentially diagrams with graphic images, text, and embedded bookmarks that may target business questions, data workbenches, content areas, or individual views. A storyboard can also include external web links, links to ARIS diagrams, or links to other storyboards. .

Here's how you can begin:

	Prepare the content you want to include in the storyboard view. Create favorites for all target links you want to embed as bookmarks. Ensure that the graphic images you want to use are available on your local drive or in the Internal Document Selector.
	Create a storyboard diagram and design the diagram by adding the graphic images, text, embedded bookmarks, Web links, links to ARIS diagrams, and other design elements.
	Specify the users, user groups, and user profiles that have access permissions to the storyboard.

Create a storyboard

You can create multiple storyboard views for your user community. To create a storyboard, go to the left navigation panel and click Diagrams > Storyboard Management. Click New > Create Storyboard Diagram and specify a name and description of the storyboard view.

Alternatively, you can click New > Copy Selected Diagram to create a diagram based on an existing diagram.

Design the storyboard

Storyboard views are designed using Alfabet's diagramming tool. Click for detailed information about using the diagram tool. The following description is a brief explanation of how to create a storyboard diagram.

1. Go to Diagrams > Storyboards Management.
2. Select the checkbox  for the storyboard you want to design and click Navigate to Diagram.
3. Click Action > Edit Diagram. The Alfabet Diagram Designer opens in a new browser tab.
4. You can add existing bookmarks, links to ARIS diagrams, or other storyboards as well as Web links and documents:
   • To add a link that opens a view saved to your favorites, click the Bookmark icon in the left pane and click a blank space in the diagram. Select the favorite that you have saved in the selector and click OK.
   • To add a link that navigates to another storyboard diagram, click the Storyboard icon and click a blank space in the diagram. Select the storyboard diagram you want to add to the diagram and click OK.
   • To add a Web link that opens a website or an externally-stored document, click the Web Link and click a blank space in the diagram. Define the following fields in the URL editor:
     • Title: Enter the text that should be displayed for the Web link. The text should help users understand why the URL is available. Please note that the text will be displayed in the language in which it was captured and will not be translated if the user interface is rendered in a secondary language.
     • URL: Enter the complete URL starting with http://, or click the Browse button to navigate to a directory where a document is located that you want to link to. The URL link may contain up to 511 characters.
     • Category: Optionally select the document category that the URL should be assigned to.
   • To add a link to ARIS diagrams in ARIS, click the ARIS Diagram Link icon and click a blank space in the diagram. Select the ARIS diagram link you want to add to the diagram. A white rectangle is placed in the diagram.
5. Design the visualizations of the links with text, color, images, etc., as needed.
6. Click the Save button to save your changes.

Specify access to the storyboard

1. Go to Diagrams > Storyboards Management.
2. Click the Navigate   button for the storyboard you want to specify.
   • Add users that may access the storyboard view. Scroll to the Viewers view. In the toolbar, click   > Add New Viewers and select the relevant users in the selector.
   • Add users from user groups that may access the storyboard view. Scroll to the Assigned User Groups view. In the toolbar, click   > Assign User Groups and select the relevant user groups in the selector.
   • Add users with a user profile that may access the storyboard view. Scroll to the Assigned User Profiles view. In the toolbar, click   >  Assign User Profiles and select the relevant users in the selector.
