Access external URLs in the Alfabet user interface
You can access external URLs directly from the Alfabet user interface:
- You can add a link opening an external URL in a new tab or browser window or triggering sending of an email to a defined email address.
- You can add a content item showing the content of the external URL to a content area. The content of the external URL is displayed read-only in an iframe. Sandboxing security roles apply and display of the content is further restricted by content security header policy.
To add an external link to the left navigation or embed it in a content area, you must first create the external link on the Alfabet user interface and add it to a menu item or content item afterwards. With this method, you can change the link on the user interface if the target changes without the need to re-do the configuration in Alfabet Expand.
This feature is not part of any of the preconfigured Alfabet solutions. You need to create a data workbench for the object class ALFA_EXTERNAL_LINK and link it to the menu of an administrative user profile to set the links.
