Data import
One of the most important tasks is to capture your data in Alfabet so that you can begin using its powerful analytics. Typically the system administrator will import at least some of your company's IT assets to Alfabet. In some cases, system administrators might import only the data required to analyze one or two business questions . Click for details about importing data into Alfabet FastLane.
But all of the data about your company's assets does not have to be in the repository to start working with Alfabet. You can begin to capture data for the immediate task at hand and add more information later as needed.
In addition to the Portfolio Admin user profile, users with the Portfolio Manager, Application Manager, or Technology Manager user profiles can add new assets to the repository as well as edit existing assets that they have authorization for. Data can be captured in data workbenches and content areas . Click to learn more about how to work with your data in data workbenches.
Depending on the data you want to capture, some assets should already exist in in your repository so that you can define an asset's relationships to other assets. For details about which object classes you can capture and edit, refer to the relevant help for your user profile in the Help start page.
