Use placeholders for assets in the diagram
You can create placeholder objects for applications, application groups, and information flows that you can then later replace with an asset that is in the repository. The placeholder object will be visible to users viewing the diagram in the content area.
- In the left panel, select the diagram item for the placeholder that you want to add and drag it to the canvas area.
- Click the diagram item and add a short text to indicate the purpose of the placeholder.
- Click the Save button to save your changes.
You can substitute the placeholder object with an asset that is in the repository at any time. If you select a placeholder application, you can only substitute it with an existing application and if you select a placeholder information flow, you can only substitute with an existing information flow. Right-click the placeholder object and select Semantic Actions > Substitute Object. In the selector that opens, select the asset you want to replace the placeholder with.
