Create a data provider

  1. Go to Analytics Dashboard > Data Provider.
  2. Click the New plus sign button and select whether you want to create an analytics dashboard based on a database view or based on a configured report.

    It is recommended that you base your configuration on a report. Configured reports have been pre-defined specifically for providing content to analytics dashboards. The database views available in the Alfabet database have been defined for other purposes.

  3. In the Basic Data tab, enter a name and a description for the data provider. This information is displayed to the user selecting the data provider for an analytics dashboard. In the Release Status field, specify whether you are currently using the data provider for testing, production, creation of a new version, or whether it is retired and shall not be used any longer. You should change the information in this field whenever the release status of the data provider changes.
  4. In the Authorized Access field, you are automatically set as the user responsible for maintaining the data provider. You can select authorized user groups with users allowed to change the data provider. Only users in the selected user groups will have edit permissions to the data provider.
  5. In the Analytics Dashboard Data Provider tab, select the configured reports or database views in the Permissible Configured Reports or Permissible Database Views field.

If you are changing a data provider while an analytics dashboard based on the data provider is currently configured, the change in the data provider will only be visible after closing and re-opening the analytics dashboard.
