Identify investment in non-strategic business capabilities

Identify where investment is being directed toward non-strategic or lower-priority business capabilities. By reviewing the projects and demands associated with these business capabilities, you can assess whether resources are being allocated appropriately and whether the investments deliver sufficient business value. This helps highlight potential opportunities to realign funding and effort toward more strategic priorities, ensuring that investments support the organization's overall business objectives and desired outcomes.

  1. Go to the business question What is our investment landscape?
  2. Click the Filter local filter button.
  3. Enable Business Relevance. The most critical business capabilities are shades of purple. The less critical business capabilities are shades of green.
  4. Identify business capabilities that are not classified as critical but have one or more projects mapped to them in the matrix. Click the project within the corresponding matrix cell to review its details and understand the purpose of the investment. Then navigate to the business capability's content area and initiate a discussion with relevant colleagues about whether the investment is justified and aligned with business priorities.
