Create a user profile
- Go to the Admin tab in Alfabet Expand.
- Right-click the User Profiles node and select New User Profile.
- Set the following attributes of the user profile:
- Name: Enter the name of the user profile that users will see on the Alfabet user interface.
- Description: Enter a short description. The description will be displayed in the user profile selector on the Alfabet user interface.
- View Scheme: Select the view scheme containing the class settings applicable to the user profile.
- Type: Select whether users accession the Alfabet user interface with this user profile will have Read only or ReadWrite access permissions to objects.
A user logged in with a ReadWrite user profile cannot edit all objects. The access permissions assigned to each object apply.
- Is Administrative User Profile: Select True if the user profile is for administrative users. A user logged in with an administrative user profile has access to all objects, document folders, configured reports and standard views including those specified as administrative. If the checkmark is not set, users will only have access to object and document folders for which they have access permissions and will not have access to any standard views or configured reports that are specified to be administrative.
Business functions, views, and custom report views are defined as administrative only with their Restrict to Administrative User Profile attribute.
- Use for Anonymous Users: Only set this attribute to True for one user profile which should be used as the default user profile that persons defined as anonymous users should use to access Alfabet. Make sure that the user profile is a ReadOnly user profile. Otherwise, the definition will be ignored.
If you define more than one user profile as the default user profile for anonymous users, the first user profile in the alphabetical order of user profiles will be used as the default user profile for anonymous users. All other definitions will be ignored.
- Classes for New-Menu: Open the editor and select the object classes for which a user shall be able to define new objects via the New button in the masthead of the Alfabet user interface. Click an object class in the left field to move it to the selected classes field on the right. You can change the order of classes in the drop-down list by sorting the selected classes with the up and down arrow buttons on the upper right of the field.
You can select more than 9 object classes, but a keyboard shortcut will only be available for the first 9 object classes listed in the drop-down list of the New menu.
Attributes for configuration of content areas: If you set the following attributes, the settings will substitute all identical settings in content areas or class settings.
- Allow Moving Content on Page: Set this attribute to False to disable moving of content items on the content page. Users will not be able to change the default layout of the content page. Content items can neither be moved nor re-sized.
- Enable Hide Button on Content Items: Set this attribute to False to hide the Hide button from the three-dots menu of content items.
- Enable Add Content to Page: Set this attribute to False to diable the ability of the user to add own content to content areas. the Manage Content on Page button in content areas will be hidden. Users can still add content like own data workbench visualizations or single views to the content repository to share it with other users.
- Enable End User Created Pages: Set this attribute to False to disable the ability of the user to change content pages in a content area. The Show/Hide Page Button and the Add New Page button will be hidden from the three-dots menu of content areas. The Add Current Page to Content Repository, Edit Page Details, and Delete Page buttons will be disabled.
