Modify editor caption and fields

You can modify the caption of editors, and the availability of editor fields. In edition, the selector for selecting the target object of a reference can be changed for editor fields establishing a relation between objects.

In Alfabet, editors are standard configuration objects available for all relevant object classes. Customers can amend the standard editors with additional fields. These amendments are added as a new tab to standard editors and are called custom editors. Modifications can be done for both standard and custom editors. The methods are the same, but the location within the class settings for storing the modifications are different.

  1. Go to the Presentation tab.
  2. In the explorer, expand the nodes Class Settings > the object class (stereotype) you would like to edit > the class settings you would like to edit.
  3. Right-click the Editors or Custom Editors node and select Modify Editor Behavior / Modify Custom Editor Behavior.
  4. Select the editor from the selector.
  5. Change the attributes. Setting of all attributes is optional.
    • Caption: Enter a new caption that shall be displayed instead of the standard caption of the editor.
    • Description: This attribute is currently not used. A description is not displayed for the editor in the user interface.
  6. Right-click the editor node and select Modify Control Behavior.
  7. Click the new control node in the explorer and change the attributes. Setting of all attributes is optional:
    • Access in User Interface: Select NoAccess to hide the control or Access to show the control.
    • Selector Definition: this attribute is only displayed if the control is used to set a reference to another object. If custom selectors are available for the target object class and you select one of the custom selectors in this attribute, the custom selector will be used for the control instead of the selector defined in the class settings of the target class.
