Planned removal of legacy Archive functionality. The Archive functionality, available in earlier Alfabet 10.x releases, allowed objects to be removed from the database while simultaneously creating an HTML-based archive containing a predefined subset of information about the object and its related objects. The scope of archived data was limited and could not be customized
With the introduction of more flexible export features, such as the Publication functionality or AI-assisted document generation through the MCP server, users now have access to significantly more powerful options for preserving and documenting object information. These approaches provide greater configurability and broader coverage of related data.
As a result, the Archive functionality will not be reintroduced in the Alfabet 11.x product line. Beginning with Alfabet 11.15, the following archive-related components will be removed:
- The non-functional Archive button in Simple Search (Simple_Search).
- The Archive Manager (ADMIN_ArchiveManager) functionality.
- The archiveobject endpoint of the Alfabet RESTful services.
This change simplifies the platform by removing obsolete functionality and consolidating archival and documentation use cases around the more flexible capabilities available in current releases.
