Data requirements

Applications and components must be in the repository to have meaningful results for this business question. Go to the Data Source page of the business question:

• The Applications data table shows existing applications and let's you create new ones. Ensure that the End Date attribute is specified to ensure that end-of-life issues can be identified with this business question.
• Mature organizations may have a lifecycle planning practice and capture the phases of a lifecycle. Double-click the application and go to Overview > Application Lifecycle and specify the application's lifecycle. Application lifecycle phases may include: Plan, Pilot, Production, Sunset, Retired.   The lifecycle describes the planned schedule of a current real-world object in different lifecycle phases of a product. Lifecycle phases will be different depending on the object class. Lifecycle phases for an application are Pilot, Production, Retired, and Sunset.

• Not all company's document their component lifecycles and it is not mandatory in Alfabet FastLane. However, by documenting the lifecycles of the components in your technology portfolio, you will be able to identify which components are approaching end-of-life but have no defined successor components. In Alfabet FastLane, a component lifecycle consists of the following stages. Double-click the component and go to Overview > Lifecycle and specify the component lifecycle. • The applications that use components should be specified. To review the the applications that use a component, double-click the component and go to Application Portfolio > Component and Applications Lifecycle.
