Data requirements
Business capabilities, applications, physical servers, virtual servers, and locations must be in the repository and well documented.
- Go to the Data Quality page and resolve all issues to ensure that your data source is reliable and that you will have meaningful results for this business question. These issues should be resolved to generate accurate insight about the dependencies in the IT infrastructure. Click to understand more about improving your data quality.
- Go to the Data Source page of the business question:
- The Business Capabilities data table shows existing business capabilities and let's you create new ones. For each business capability, specify the Business Relevance attribute. Click for information about documenting business capabilities.
- The applications that support the business capability should be defined. Double-click a business capability and go to Application Portfolio > Application Architecture > Applications Providing Business Capability to specify the applications that support the business capability.
- The Applications data table shows existing applications and let's you create new ones. For each application, specify all columns. Double-click an application and go to Technical Portfolio > Technical Architecture > Servers to specify the physical or virtual server that hosts the application. - The Virtual Servers data table shows existing virtual servers and let's you create new ones. For each virtual server, specify the physical server that the virtual server runs on. Click for information about documenting virtual servers.
- The Physical Servers data table shows existing physical servers and let's you create new ones. For each physical server, specify the location of the physical server. Click for information about documenting physical servers.
- The Locations data table shows existing locations and let's you create new ones. For each location, specify all columns. Click for information about documenting locations.
