The business question Who are our vendors? provides an overview of the vendors that support your IT portfolio. The information helps you to understand who your top 10 vendors are, which vendors support mission-critical business capabilities, and which vendors support technologies that are no longer used in your company. Review whether your company is at risk due to too much reliance on a single vendor or whether you might consolidate vendors in order to benefit from preferential rates from a single vendor.

This business question shows data in a number of different views to understand and manage your vendor portfolio. Together the views provide an overview of the vendor landscape to help you identify your strategic technology partners. Assess the information in the following views to understand your company's reliance on vendors. Review which vendors provide components, enable applications that use the components, and thus have the most impact on the business.

Components Provided by Top Ten Vendors: This doughnut chart shows the top 10 vendors that provide the most components in your company. The number in the center of the doughnut hole indicates the total number of components that the top 10 vendors provide. The analysis is based on all components with an Object State value that is not Retired. Each doughnut slice represents a vendor. Point to a doughnut slice to view a tooltip with the number of components that the vendor provides.

Applications Provided by Top Ten Vendors: This doughnut chart shows the top 10 vendors that provide the most applications using components that the vendor provides. The analysis is based on all non-retired applications using components with an Object State value that is not Retired. The number in the center of the doughnut hole indicates the total number of applications that the top 10 vendors provide. Each doughnut slice represents a vendor. Point to a doughnut slice to view a tooltip with the number of applications that the vendor provides.

Vendors Providing End-of-Life Components: This dataset shows vendors that support components that are no longer used in the company. The view includes all components with an Object State value that is not Retired and where the end date of the lifecycle phases Manufacturer Supported and Manufacturer Extended Support is before the current date. Consider which unused components need to be replaced or updated to a new version from the same vendor or whether to substitute components from another vendor.

Business Critical Vendors: This dataset shows all vendors that provide indirect support to business capabilities that are considered mission-critical for the business. The business capabilities displayed are supported by applications using components that are provided by the vendor. Only business capabilities for which the Business Relevance attribute is set to Mission Critical are included in the view.

Vendors Supporting IT Capabilities: Shows vendors and the IT capabilities they support. This helps you understand when vendors have the most impact on the technology portfolio. The view includes all IT capabilities that have components with an Object State value that is not Retired.
