Alfabet - Service Now interface

If your company uses ServiceNow® to manage IT Assets, Services and Operations and Alfabet to manage the enterprise architecture and plan IT transformation, establishing an interface between the two applications provides additional value.

To combine the application management capabilities of Alfabet and the business service management capabilities of ServiceNow, Alfabet provides a preconfigured interface with ServiceNow that is based on the ServiceNow CSDM 3.0 model. The CSDM model describes how Business Services are managed in ServiceNow and includes various CI classes and the relations between them:

Using the Alfabet /ServiceNow API, application design can be provided by Alfabet, and business applications are created and maintained in ServiceNow via import of application data from Alfabet. Based on the imported data, service management is performed in ServiceNow, and the resulting application services are imported to Alfabet as objects of the deployment object class and linked to the corresponding applications.

Alfabet applications and deployments synchronized with ServiceNow show a link to ServiceNow that leads the user directly to the corresponding business application or deployment in ServiceNow.

Strategic planning of the IT infrastructure in Alfabet results in the planning of new applications. As part of the approval process for an application, the application data is then exported to ServiceNow, resulting in new business applications.

In ServiceNow, release and deployment management is done for the new business applications. Once the business application is deployed, the information about the resulting application service is imported to Alfabet as deployment of an application.

Application lifecycle management, roadmapping and application rationalization in Alfabet leads to the decision to implement new application versions. When a new application version is created and has been approved in Alfabet, the business application in ServiceNow is linked to the new version automatically during the next data synchronization run and the link to the old version is removed. The business application data is always up to date and incident and IT asset management in ServiceNow are based on the current application version.
