Capture data categories
A data category bundles and classifies content-specific business data. Data categories can be hierarchically defined.
In the navigation panel, click Information Architecture > Data Categories to open the explorer and data workbench for data categories. Per default, the data workbench displays only a set of basic attributes. You can add more columns to capture other attributes directly in the data workbench or you can navigate to an application group's content area and define it in more detail there. Add a data category at the top-level of the hierarchy. Click the New button. The edit panel opens on the right where you can define basic data.
Add a subordinate data category. Click the parent data category in the explorer, go to the Overview tab and open the Specializations view. Click New > Create New Business Object.
Change the parent of a data category. In the Specializations view, click New > Move Existing Business Object Here to open a selector where you can chose the data category to move to the new parent data category.
Edit a data category. Edit the component directly in the data table. Or select the checkbox for the data category you want to edit and click the Edit button to open the edit panel. Assign business data to a data category. Click the data category in the explorer, go to the Overview page and open the Business Data view. Click New > Create New Business Data. All mandatory fields must be defined to create the business data and save it.
- Name: (Mandatory) The name of the business data will be the same as the name of the selected data category, but this can be changed. Enter a unique name for the business data. The use of a comma (,) in the name business data is not recommended. To assure correct handling, the comma (,) will be replaced by a period (.) in conjunction with the display of business data in the CRUD matrices.
- Version: (Mandatory) Enter a version number for the business data. The name and version number of the business data should be unique.
- Data Category: (Mandatory) Assign the business data to a data category. The business data is typically the instantiation of the data category.
- Business Capability: (Recommended) Select the business capability that the business data is relevant for.
- Data Classification: Classify the business data based on data protection requirements. Possible options are: Confidential - Non-Personal Data, Confidential - Personal Data, Restricted, Unrestricted, and Unknown
- Description: Enter a meaningful description that will clarify the purpose of the business data.
