The Alfabet Administrator of Alfabet 11.6 cannot connect to an Alfabet database of Alfabet 10.15.X via the Connect option in the context menu of the server alias. Update of the meta-model and database restore can be performed. You must update the meta-model of an Alfabet database of Alfabet 10.15 prior to using the Connect functionality.
For archiving and restoring large databases in Alfabet specific format, 7z-format data compression can be used alternative to the ZIP compression. 7z-format compression usually takes longer, but results in a lower file size. When archiving a database, the list of available file formats has been amended with the extension of the new compressed database format, which is .adb7 . The extension .adbz to store the database zip compressed is still available.
Assemblies are no longer stored in the Alfabet database but instead in the installation folders of the Alfabet components.
The Assemblies tab has been removed from the editor to generate an AMM file.
The Assemblies node has been removed from the connected server alias explorer in the Alfabet Administrator
Only case-insensitive databases are supported. The option to ignore case-sensitivity checks has been removed from the editors to update the meta-model and to restore databases from ADBZ or ADB7 files. Update of the meta-model or restore of the database will fail if the target database is case sensitive.
Between Alfabet 10.15.X and Alfabet 11.6 how the user interface is configured has changed considerably. When you update the meta-model of an existing Alfabet 10 database, your customized configuration must be adapted to the changes. This is an individual process which requires customized restructuring efforts. Due to the significant changes to usability and the user interface in Alfabet 11, a one-to-one migration will not be possible. Please contact the Alfabet team in Software GmbH to help you plan your transition to Alfabet 11.
