Create a successor contract

You can create a successor contract from an existing contract while preserving the relevant contract structure and key information.

When a successor contract is created, all mandatory contract attributes are copied from the source contract. The successor contract automatically receives the suffix - Copy in its name and contract number. All associated contract items are duplicated and linked to the successor contract, with each copied contract item also receiving the - Copy suffix in its name. In addition, all associated contract deliverables are copied and linked to the new contract.

The start date of the successor contract and its contract items is automatically set to the end date of the predecessor contract. After creation, the successor contract and all copied contract items can be modified as required.

  1. Go to Business Portfolio > Contracts.
  2. Select the contract you want to create a successor for and click New > Create Successor.
  3. Define a unique name and basic attributes and click OK.
  4. Specify data in the data workbench or click the Navigate  Navigate button next to a contract to open its content area. Specify the contract's attributes as well as the relationships that the contract has to other assets in the repository.

Try to capture as much information as possible about the contract because complete data considerably improves the results of business questions and other analytics.
