Manage project resources
Carry out high-level planning of skills and resources required to realize a project. Manage the skill and resource requests made by organizations and projects to ensure that resource constraints won't impact a project. Project team members can manage their project tasks, report the time worked on their tasks, keep track of timesheets and understand the time schedule of projects and the skills they have been requested to provide.
- A program is a collection of related projects that together form a package of work to achieve a common objective. The program provides structure and governance to ensure that the individual project align with business goals. Programs focus on coordination, resource management, and the interdependencies between projects.
- A project is an activity that is focused on achieving a specified goal in the IT landscape and typically has specific project deliverables.
- The work package describes a manageable deliverable in the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) of the project. A work package serves as a container for related tasks.
- The task describes an activity that must be completed for the work package it is assigned to.
- A skill request is a formal submission made for a project, work package, or task to secure the specified skills needed to complete that work. Persons inside an organization fulfill the skill request when they provide the skill.
- A resource request is a formal submission made for a project, work package, or task to secure the input of an organization.
The license package Strategic Portfolio Management is required and the use case Resource Management must be enabled to work with the classes Resource, Resource Request, Skill, Skill Offer, and Timesheet and the business question Where can we expect resource restraints?
